Bog Geldof was one of the artists involved in the mayor
46664 concert held here in SA in an effort to try and enlighten many people about the seriousness of AIDS in the world.

(46664 was the prison cellnumber of our country's previous president Nelson Mandela. The concert also raised money for the Nelson Mandela Children's Fund.)

Although I found the concert itself an awesome experience, I can't hide my dissapointment that none of it seemed to catch / influence our goverment's approach to the problem.

Remember that we have a president that's unsure whether AIDS is actually a virus or anything medical at all!!
Unfortunately, his view was as confusing as the remedies or cures people tried:
Attempts range from (strictly) following a healthy diet (you should eat only these excotic foods...) to raping and killing a small child to be cured...

(I'm glad to say the persons responsible for the raping have been tried and brought to justice...)

Rainy weather ...

when I woke up today to the sound of heavy rain falling outside *ouch*, I tried desperately to cling to each minute and stretch it for as long as possible. It's the perfect weather today: no wind, gently rain and the promise to stay like that untill tomorrow.

I saw Kill Bill: Volume 2 debuts today and it's looking as exciting as I found the first volume to be. Hopefully a lot less bloody & gory but yah, also hopefully more of the same.

There's a lot of criticism about the sequel to a stunning first Volume. It makes me wonder if a sequel to a good movie is actually a good idea? To stay in the movie genre, take The Matrix for example ... although 'Reloaded' and 'Revolutions' was a thrilling experience, I'm having trouble saying it pushed the boundaries as far as The Matrix itself could manage to do.

(I think the same thing happened with Warcraft2 and it's less than awesome sequel Warcraft3)

I did the SA Shavathon and have pictures to prove it!! It was tremendous fun - and the colour washed out so easilly, I'm actually thinking of spraying my hair more often ... *joke*

I completed the 'Jung Typology' Humanmetrics test the other day and found it very interesting.

according to the test i'm a ESFP personality type - indicating I am a:

slightly expressed extrovert

slightly expressed sensing personality

moderately expressed feeling personality

slightly expressed perceiving personality

it also labeled me as spontaneous and impulsive, which could be true when I look at things I know I'm not quite that good at.

The profile also illustrated a lot of things that are considered as your weaker points which I believe can be moved up to normal once u realize the weakness and work on it.

Down here in South Africa I think April is the month stacked with the most public holidays - and you can't help smiling when realizing that it's just around the corner..

I saw this today on Yahoo! and it's discussing the apparent lack of creativity in today's gaming scene.
You know how everyone is waiting for sequels like Doom3, Half-Life2, Halo2 and of course the Unreal Tournament series? they have some disturbing statistics on the article and also some quotes from the man himself who invented pac-man (they claim that woman all around loved the game??)..

I read about this the other day ...

I think it's a law passed to protect and be used in actuall cases - let's say u had grounds for blaming someone's house when walking past it and being injured in the process because of the person's house. There is some doubt in my mind as to how how that could happen: maybe the house really has faulty electrical wiring endangering the passers by, or maybe there's a tree in the yard containing a hive of bees that saw fit to attack each pedestrain looking at them the wrong way.

Let's just say that it could happen, and with a valid reason as to why the "neighboring landowners" are responsible for the injury (... please define injury ??), then maybe there is valid grounds for suing the responsible party...

but it seems like the law in NY was passed, and now people are taking hug advantage of the system by blaming any rich "neighboring landowners" of any past (one case dating back to 2000) injuries that might have occured. Some cases blame parties for stuff like slipping on nearby accumulated snow / ice when walking past. words fail me ...

anyway, let's try and move on :)

this is ridiculous ...

maybe Google should put up a disclaimer, something of the sort:

Google wish to dissuade using our services in finding means to sue us. We would also like to take this opportunity to inform any potensial users that our search results do not accurately reflect Google's view towards any party and therefore should not be held responsible for any possible search results found.

a bit sarcastic tho - but rightly so?? The suit argued that Google's powerfull search engine retrieves the sites, but also "reformats information obtained from accurate sources, resulting in changing of the context in which information is presented."

so instead of arguing that the search results made the person look bad, the whole point seems to be that a search would take several normal descriptions of a site, mixed and match certain descriptive keywords and come up with a new summary for each site. Only that some summaries sometimes reflected not to well on the party involved in the search criteria.

I haven't tried doing a search for myself tho, scared that maybe I'll find something like:

"I heard (Seemonster) talk about the positive influences that support groups tend to have on people's lives. He also mentioned the perils of using to much salt - abusing the salt shaker - when eating fish."

which could probably mean I either hate fish or I love making fish for dinner??

just the way to get the week started, some good, stimulating Coffee ... don't know why I like this stuff so much: it's orgasmic when still hot and steamy and sweet, but should u neglect it, I'm afraid u'r stuck with some cold, bitter stuff that I prefer not to think of as 'coffee' ...

I can't wait for World of Warcraft to come out ...

I love the whole fantasy idea, just imagine urself as a powerfull sorcerer or a seductive elven enchantress manipulating either the forces of nature or the minds of men to get ur way... I guess the second is more dangerous ;)

The weekend's drumming went quite well, although there was a song where the drummer should have had lightning fast, blurring hands and drumsticks that's on fire (every1 run away...) which left me more than spent and unable to walk without tripping over my own shaking arms ... which startled me and pointed out the fact that I last played about 7 months ago .. I need to get back in the swing of things ...
all well, that's the whole point of excercising: to get fit, same in drumming: u excercise a lot -> u get fit. faster, and more relaxed. and a drumkit that's on fire :) The moment you start to tense up, u've already lost ...

which reminds me...

we finally saw Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon this weekend.. which must be the most frustrating movie I saw in a long time ... work with me now: the main dude gives up the legendary 'Green Destiny' Sword to another girl in an effort to convince her to be his student seeing as he always saw himself as 'more of a teacher than a warrior' with the sword.
It truly is an unthinkable sword: think of a plastic ruler able to swing and bend and stuff, but able to cut through anything - any weapon, any metal ...
so the girl gets the sword, decides to run away and her servant (also a bad ass ninja warrior holding a grudge against the teacher dude) follows her, misleads her and lay a trap for the teacher. The teacher dude walks straight into the trap and in one truly amazing scene involving a gazilion needles all comming at once, decides to die... but at least manage in killing the servant as well.
so, the teacher is dead, the servant is dead - and then the girl that refused to be his student commits suicide and no one knows what happens to the sword.
Although the above contained less than a bare-skinned summary should have, the whole movie just proved to be pointless: every1 dies and the sword disappears...

besides for a storyline I can't understand, the movie is brilliant, awesome action scenes included.

Friday / Weekend / ....

ah - Thank God, it's weekend ... I heard someone mention once that about living for weekends and I def. have to agree ...
maybe it's only the promise of a few days for urself or the idea of being allowed to catch up on ur sleep that's got me hooked;

You can see why I'm right on this.

anyway, the point I actually wanted to make by this post was this: as important as sleep is and everything, I think it's just as important to make time for yourself and put everything on hold: ur friends, ur responsibilites, everything.

Some people try to achieve this by going on long weekends away from work, or going to yoga classes. I just want my bed and all comforts that's waiting for me @ home ...

another word of advice would be not to post / talk while tired ;) so I'll leave u guys and girls there, sleep toit tonight!

I love Final Fantasy (the movie, the games - especially VIII, all of it), anyone out there feel the same?? I'm also very excited about the online FF X1, although I don't know much about it yet ... so if you have any experience playing it / reading up about it and you know stuff ..
